Cessar earns All-Region

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Grove City College senior women's soccer player Sarah Cessar (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock) earned First Team All-Great Lakes Region honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Wednesday afternoon.

Cessar earned First Team All-Region at midfield for the second straight year. She is the first Grove City women's soccer player to earn First Team All-Region honors in consecutive years.

Cessar started 22 matches this year for the Wolverines (12-9-1 overall) and ranked second on the team in goals (7), assists (6) and total points (20). She also earned First Team All-Presidents' Athletic Conference for the second straight year.

Cessar concluded her career with 18 goals and 11 assists in 73 career matches. She made 63 starts over her final three seasons. Grove City went 50-28-6 in her career.

Nine Grove City players have earned NSCAA All-Region honors since 2003. Current senior Sam Weber (Freeport, Pa./Freeport) joined Cessar on the All-Region team. Grace Rieman (2011) Hannah Yang (2010), Kristin Colley (2007), Emily Ostlund (2007), Stephanie Wild (2007), Danielle Balliet (2003) and Meg Tilley (2003) are Grove City's other All-Region honorees.
