Grove City blanks Saint Vincent; clinches berth
LATROBE, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team secured a berth in next week's Presidents' Athletic Conference Championship Tournament by earning a 1-0 conference win at Saint Vincent Tuesday afternoon.
Grove City (13-3-1, 6-2 PAC) broke a scoreless tie at 81:24 when junior midfielder Sarah Cessar (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock) scored an unassisted goal. Cessar now has four goals this year, including two game-winning scores.
The Wolverines owned an 18-9 edge in shots and an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks. Sophomore goalkeeper Kristi Lathrop (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) earned the shutout win by recording four saves.
Grove City now has eight shutouts this year, including six in conference play. The Wolverines will conclude the regular season Saturday against visiting Westminster at 2:30 p.m.
