Wolverines fall to Gettysburg 2-1 in opener
GETTYSBURG, Pa. -- Senior forward Shannon Bishop (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) notched an early goal, but Gettysburg scored a pair of goals in the second half as the Grove City College women's soccer team fell to the Bullets, 2-1, in the season opener.
Bishop found the back of the net on a ball from fellow senior Jessica Heck (Canton, Mich./Plymouth) in the 19th minute to give the Wolverines an early 1-0 lead.
The Bullets would even the score just 12 seconds before halftime on a Molly Phillips unassisted goal. Gettysburg then took the lead in the 79th minute when Meg Castranova bent a corner kick just inside the goal.
Senior Tiffany Yost (Christiana, Pa./Living Word Academy) had five saves in goal for the Wolverines.
Grove City (0-1) faces non-conference opponent Alvernia Saturday at 4:00 pm at Gettysburg.
