Grove City blanks Behrend

ERIE, Pa. -- Two late goals helped vault the Grove City College women's soccer team to a 2-0 victory at Penn State Behrend Wednesday night in non-conference action.

Senior defender Leah Wilt (Mountville, Pa./Hempfield) broke a scoreless tie at the 72:55 mark by scoring her first goal of the season. Freshman defender Jordyn White (Mars, Pa./Mars) assisted Wilt's goal.

The Wolverines then sealed the win at 85:39 when sophomore midfielder Kristin Thomas (Ellicott City, Md./Chapelgate Christian) scored an unassisted goal. It is Thomas's second goal of the season.

Senior goalkeeper Tiffany Yost (Christiana, Pa./Living Word) earned her first shutout of the season by stopping three shots. Grove City owned a 15-7 edge in shots and a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks.

White leads the team with two assists this season. Each of Grove City's first five matches had ended with a 2-1 final score. Grove City is 3-0-1 in its last four matches against Penn State Behrend.

The Wolverines (2-4) host John Carroll Saturday at 1 p.m.
