Grove City battles John Carroll to draw

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team battled visiting John Carroll to a 1-1 double-overtime draw in non-conference action on a rainy Saturday afternoon at College Field.

After a scoreless first half, Wolverine senior forward Chelsea Tarolli (Syracuse, N.Y./Marcellus) slotted a ball through to classmate Becky McManus (Bel Air, Md./Harford Christian), who finished to give Grove City a 1-0 lead in the 67th minute.

For McManus, it was her second goal of the season while Tarolli notched her second assist.

The Blue Streaks answered in the 76th minute, as Preston Mendel found Genny Goergen, who one-touched the ball to Nicki Bohrer to even the score at 1-1.

Both teams had decent opportunities to score in the extra frames, but neither could capitalize.

Senior Tiffany Yost (Christiana, Pa./Living Word Academy) posted a strong showing in goal amidst the sloppy conditions, making nine saves. Nicole Grys stopped ten shots in goal for John Carroll.

Grove City, now 2-4-1, will host Mount Union Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
