Grove City rolls past Chatham

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- Freshmen Lindsey Reichert (Northbridge, Mass./Northbridge), Natalie Silk (Hudson, Ohio/CVCA) and Sammie Wild (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) each recorded the first goals of their collegiate careers and Reichert added a second as the Grove City College women's soccer team rolled to a 5-0 victory over Chatham in Presidents' Athletic Conference action on a rainy Wednesday afternoon at College Field.

Sophomore Kristin Thomas (Ellicott City, Md./Chapelgate Christian) added her third goal of the season for the Wolverines (9-6-1, 6-0 PAC) while junior Sarah Flenniken (Hudson, Ohio/CVCA), freshman Jordyn White (Mars, Pa./Mars) and Silk each registered an assist.

Wild got Grove City on the board in the 12th minute, gathering a rebound and sending it home.

Silk made it a 2-0 game in the 20th minute when she received a pass from Flenniken and took a beautiful bending shot that soared above the reach of the Cougar goalkeeper.

Silk sent a ball to Thomas on the left wing in the 58th minute, and Thomas beat a defender to increase the Wolverine lead to 3-0.

Reichert would take things from there, scoring her first goal off a White corner in the 73rd minute and cleaning up her own shot off the post in the 86th minute.

Sophomore Nicole Lapia (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley) played the entire game in goal to earn her first collegiate win.

The Wolverines held a commanding 38-0 advantage in total shots, including a 23-0 lead in shots on goal.

Grove City travels to Westminster for an important PAC matchup Saturday at 2:30.
