Wolverines fall on road
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team dropped to 6-1 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 setback at Westminster in conference action at Memorial Field.
Grove City (9-7-1 overall) took a 1-0 lead at 14:31 when senior defender Leah Wilt (Mountville, Pa./Hempfield) collected a loose ball in the box and blasted it into the net for her second goal of the season.
However, Westminster (10-5-2, 5-0-2 PAC) rallied with three goals over the final 25 minutes of the match. Amanda Turi scored on a deflection in the goal area to tie the match at 64:58. Kerri Inzinga put the Titans ahead at 71:24 by scoring off a corner kick.
An own goal at the 82:28 mark boosted the lead to 3-1.
Grove City held an 11-9 edge in shots. Westminster had four corner kicks while Grove City had three corners. In goal, senior Tiffany Yost (Christiana, Pa./Living Word) stopped five shots for the Wolverines.
Grove City returns to action Tuesday with a home conference match against Saint Vincent at 3:30 p.m.
