Wolverines fall to Thomas More in regular season finale

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team's second-half rally came up short as the Wolverines fell to visiting Thomas More 2-1 in their regular-season finale on Saturday afternoon at College Field.

Freshman Jordyn White (Mars, Pa./Mars) scored the lone goal for the Wolverines (10-8-1, 7-2 PAC) while senior Tiffany Yost (Christiana, Pa./Living Word Academy) and junior Kristi Lathrop (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) each played a half in goal.

Thomas More (15-1-2, 9-0) jumped out to an early lead when Courtney Clark scored on a rebound off a Sam Work shot.

The Saints' lead doubled to 2-0 in the 29th minute on an own goal.

White closed the deficit to 2-1 in the 58th minute when she blasted a free kick from just inside midfield that just cleared the reach of Thomas More goalkeeper Sarah Barton. The goal was White's second of the year.

Yost made six saves in goal in the first half while Lathrop stopped two shots in the second half.

Prior to the match, the Wolverines honored their nine seniors- Shannon Bishop, Lydia Caissy, Sarah Cessar, Jessica Heck, Becky McManus, Chelsea Tarolli, Sam Weber, Leah Wilt, and Yost. That group has led Grove City to a 48-28-6 record over the past four years, including the program's first ever NCAA Tournament win in 2012.

The Wolverines will be the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Presidents' Athletic Conference tournament and will host third-seeded Westminster (11-6-2, 6-1-2) on Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. Westminster defeated Grove City 3-1 in New Wilmington on October 26.
