Purple Raiders top Grove City
ALLIANCE, Ohio -- The Grove City College women's soccer team dropped a 2-0 verdict at Mount Union Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action at Mount Union Stadium.
Mount Union (7-2) broke a scoreless tie at 49:57 when Taylor Lanese scored an unassisted goal. The Purple Raiders added an insurance goal at 74:07 when Nicole Moldovan scored.
Grove City outshot Mount Union 10-9. Mount Union had four corner kicks while the Wolverines had three. In goal, senior Kristi Lathrop (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) stopped five shots for Grove City.
Mount Union entered the game ranked eighth in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Great Lakes Region poll.
Grove City (1-6-1) will visit national power Messiah Saturday night in non-conference action.
