Wolverines fall at No. 2 Messiah
GRANTHAM, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team fell to national power and second-ranked Messiah 2-0 on Saturday night.
Messiah (9-0) took a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute when Marisa Weaver headed a ball from Nikki Elsaesser into the back of the net.
The Falcons doubled their lead in the 72nd minute when Hannah Weyland headed in a Weaver corner.
Senior Kristi Lathrop (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) made four saves in goal for the Wolverines. Messiah held a 25-1 advantage in shots on goal in the match.
Grove City (1-7-1) travels to regionally-ranked John Carroll on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. non-conference match.
