Grove City falls at Thomas More in PAC finale

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team saw its eight-game winning streak come to an end as the Wolverines fell to 11th-ranked Thomas More 2-0 in Presidents' Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon at the Bank of Kentucky Field.

Grove City (9-9-1, 8-1 PAC) actually had the first threat of the game as freshman Kat Kouzelos (Akron, Ohio/Cuyahoga Valley Christian) forced Thomas More goalkeeper Megan Barton to make a save in the fifth minute, but the Saints (18-1, 9-0) would control play from there, holding a 12-2 advantage in total shots.

The Saints got on the board when Kait Owens scored an unassisted goal in the 24th minute and doubled that lead early in the second half on a score from Olivia Huber.

Senior goalkeeper Kristi Lathrop (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) made five saves in goal in the loss.

With the loss, Grove City will be the #2-seed in next week's four-team Presidents' Athletic Conference women's soccer championship tournament. The Wolverines will host #3-seed Westminster (14-4-1, 7-2 PAC) on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in one semifinal match while #1-seed Thomas More hosts #4-seed Washington & Jefferson (9-7-2, 5-3-1) at the same time.
