Grove City opens with draw
ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team opened the 2015 season Tuesday afternoon by earning a scoreless double-overtime draw at Adrian in non-conference play.
In goal, senior Nicole Lapia (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley) recorded her first career shutout by stopping four shots in 110 minutes of action. Adrian owned an 11-7 edge in shots. Each team had three corner kicks.
It is Grove City's first tie in a season opener since a 1-1 draw with Ohio Northern in 2012. It is the first time that Grove City has ever played a 0-0 match in the season opener. The 2015 season is the 24th season of intercollegiate women's soccer at Grove City.
The Wolverines (0-0-1) open their home schedule Friday at 4 p.m. against Franciscan.
