Wolverines topped by No. 7 Carnegie Mellon
PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team fell to seventh-ranked Carnegie Mellon 1-0 on Friday night at the CMU Soccer Field.
Grove City (3-3-1) held strong defensively over the first 40 minutes of the match, but the Tartans (4-0-1) would break the deadlock just before halftime, as Haili Adams was in the right place at the right time for to serve a volley off of a deflection past senior goalkeeper Nicole Lapia (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley) for the lone goal of the match.
Lapia made eight saves in goal for the Wolverines. Grove City was outshot by the Tartans 14-1, including 9-1 on goal.
Grove City returns to action Tuesday, traveling to Penn State Behrend for a 7 p.m. non-conference match.
