Wild goal equals wild win for Wolverines

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- Senior forward Sammie Wild (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) scored 7 minutes, 34 seconds into overtime Friday night to lift the Grove City College women's soccer team to a 1-0 overtime road win over Presidents' Athletic Conference archrival Geneva at Reeves Field.

Wild scored her third goal of the season after receiving an assist from senior forward Kristin Thomas (Ellicott City, Md./Chapelgate Christian).

Grove City (6-4-1, 1-0 PAC) owned a 37-12 edge in shots, including a 22-6 advantage in the second half and overtime. Grove City also had 11 corner kicks while Geneva had four.

In goal, senior Nicole Lapia (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley) stopped two shots to preserve the shutout victory. It is the Wolverines' fourth shutout of the season.

The Wolverines will visit conference foe Washington & Jefferson at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday evening.
