Grove City falls in title match
CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. -- The Grove City College women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision Saturday afternoon to top-seeded Thomas More (17-0-2) in the championship match of the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championship Tournament at BB&T Bank Stadium.
Thomas More broke a scoreless tie at 31:18 when Julie Flagge-Echols scored after receiving an assist from Olivia Huber.
Thomas More owned a 9-3 edge in shots and a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks. For third-seeded Grove City (11-6-4), senior goalkeeper Nicole Lapia (Pittsburgh, Pa./Chartiers Valley) stopped three shots.
Saturday's match marked the fourth consecutive season that Thomas More and Grove City have met in the conference finals. During the 2015 regular season, Grove City and Thomas More played to a 0-0 draw October 21 at College Field.
Grove City will now await a possible invitation to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III South Tournament next week.
