GCC Blanks Thiel, 5-0 GROVE CITY, PA, September 21, 1999--The Lady Wolverine soccer team recorded its second shutout in four games Wednesday, defeating visiting Thiel, 5-0, in the conference opener. Grove City took a 2-0 halftime lead on goals by Autum Early (Sarver, PA/Freeport) and Nanmarie Woodford (Fairfax, VA/Bethlehem Baptist). Early added another goal to open the second half -- her third of the season. Jen Bailey (Simsbury, CT/The Master's School) put the Lady Wolverines up 4-0 with her third goal of the year and Erica Long (Cranberry Twp., PA/Slippery Rock) accounted for GCC's fifth goal. Long played the first half in goal and made one save. Katy Turman (Meadowbrook, PA/Abington) split the shutout with four saves in the second half. Grove City improved to 2-5, 1-0 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference. Thiel fell to 0-8, 0-2 in the PAC. |
