Lady Wolverines Net Number One Seed GROVE CITY, PA, October 19, 1999--The Grove City College women's soccer team sealed the top seed at next week's conference championship tournament with a 4-0 win over visiting Waynesburg College on Tuesday. Erica Snow (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) scored a pair of goals, giving her a team-leading 10 goals on the year. Autum Early (Sarver, PA/Freeport), the squad's lone senior who was honored briefly in a Senior Day ceremony before the game, tallied her sixth goal of the season. Merry Van Heukelem (Denver, CO/Denver Christian) opened the scoring with her first collegiate goal. Jen Bailey (Simsbury, CT/The Master's School), Christine Litwa (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) and Jennifer Duly (Canton, OH/Central Catholic) each had one assist. Erica Long (Cranberry Twp., PA/Slippery Rock) and Katy Turman (Meadowbrook, PA/Abington) shared the shutout with three saves each. The Lady Wolverines upped their record to 8-7-1 overall and 6-1 in the PAC. Waynesburg fell to 11-6 overall, 4-4 in the PAC. Waynesburg will host the PAC Championship Tournament Friday and Saturday, October 29-30. |
