Lady Wolverines beat Behrend, Whitbeck still amazes
GROVE CITY, PA, November 16, 2000--Freshman Peggy Whitbeck (Saegertown, PA/Meadville) set a new pool and varsity record in the 100-yard butterfly as the Grove City College women's swimming and diving team defeated visiting Penn State Behrend Thursday, 106-66.
Whitbeck, making her home debut, won the 100 fly in :57.52, beating the NCAA's automatic qualifier of :58.49. The freshman sensation posted a :58.08 at Allegheny College last weekend. Whitbeck, this week's Presidents' Athletic Conference swimmer of the week, also won the 100 breaststroke in 1:09.00
Junior Sarah Erdos (Broomall, PA/Marple Newtown) touched first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:24.05 and the 100 free in :56.95.
