Grove City places fourth at sprint invite
MEADVILLE, PA, November 9, 2001--The Lady Wolverines settled for fourth place at the four-school Allegheny College Sprint Invitational on Friday.
The College of Wooster won the meet with 452 points. SUNY-Geneseo took second (310), followed by Allegheny (265) and Grove City (219).
Sophomore Peggy Whitbeck (Saegertown, PA/Saegertown) won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:00.69 and placed second in the 200 individual medley at 2:15.88.
Three Lady Wolverines posted sixth-place swims: senior Sarah Erdos (Broomall, PA/Marple Newtown) in the 100 freestyle (57.03), sophomore Julie Pullin (Munroe Falls, OH/Hawken Upper) in the 100 backstroke (1:06.84) and freshman Jacquie Adlam (Ambler, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.71).Grove City's 200 freestyle relay team of Erdos, Pullin, Whitbeck and freshman Karen Rodgers (Pittsburgh, PA/Penn Hills) turned in a fifth-place time of 1:46.65.
