Grove City tops Frostburg, W. Va. Wesleyan

FROSTBURG, Md. -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving picked up a pair of victories at Frostburg State University Saturday, downing the host Bobcats 128-98 and pulling out a 118-109 victory over West Virginia Wesleyan.

Sophomore Ellen Magee (Cincinnati, Ohio/Homeschooled) and senior Peggy Whitbeck (Saegertown, Pa./Saegertown) each picked up a pair of wins in the double-dual victory. Magee won the 100 (1:02.66 seconds) and 200 freestyle (2:18.40) while Whitbeck won the 100 butterfly (1:05.59) and 200 individual medley (2:30.11).

Freshman diver Alexis Zanias (Coplay, Pa./Lehigh Valley Christian) won both the 1- and 3-meter diving events for Grove City (2-1).

In addition, junior Christine Bare (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar Cliff) took first in the 400 free (4:45.50) and second in the 800 (9:55.74). Senior Julie Pullin (Munroe Falls, Ohio/Gates Mills) earned runner-up in the 100 backstroke (1:15.38) while sophomore Amanda Brozenic (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock) placed second in the 100 breaststroke (1:23.43).

Freshman Emily Hays (Seaville, N.J./Ocean City) placed second in the 1-meter diving.
