Grove City takes 2nd at Distance Invite
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team took second at its own Grove City Distance Invitational Saturday night, earning 447 team points. Gannon won the three-team event with 636 points while Salem International finished third with 215.
Senior Christine Bare (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar Cliff) helped lead the Grove City effort by winning the 1650. Bare turned in a time of 19:08.90 to earn the win. She also took second in the 200 free (2:03.67) and fourth in the 200 backstroke with a mark of 2:27.07.
Sophomore diver Emily Hays (Seaville, N.J./Ocean City) swept the diving events. Hays collected 196.35 points to win the 3-meter competition and tallied 187.75 points to win the 1-meter event.
Junior Ellen Magee (Cincinnati, Ohio/Homeschooled) placed third in the 200 butterfly (2:25.79) and fourth in the 400 individual medley (5:00.67) while freshman Christie Hebda (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) took third in the 200 free (2:08.22).
Senior Jacquie Adlam (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) finished third in the 200 breaststroke (2:36.88) while junior Amanda Brozenic (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock) took fourth in the 500 free with a mark of 5:47.46.
Grove City will open the dual-meet portion of the schedule next Saturday, November 13, at Carnegie Mellon.
