Grove City trims Hiram for 3rd straight win

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team improved to 3-1 Saturday afternoon with a 128-106 win over Hiram in non-conference action at College Pool.

Junior Ellen Magee (Cincinnati, Ohio/Homeschooled) won both the 50 (25.24 seconds) and 100 free (55.07) races while sophomore diver Emily Hays (Seaville, N.J./Ocean City) swept the diving events to help Grove City win its third straight dual meet. Hays won the 1-meter diving competition with 198.75 points, then won the 3-meter competition with 189.30 points.

Magee joined junior Jaclyn Bellissimo (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover), senior Christine Bare (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar Cliff) and freshman Ellen Keefer (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) on Grove City's meet-clinching 400 free relay team that won with a time of 3:48.60.

Bare also won the 1000 in 11:24.82 while senior Karen Rodgers (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills) won the 200 butterfly in 2:25.92.

Grove City returns to action Jan. 15, 2005 at Washington and Jefferson.
