Grove City finishes 3rd out of 11

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team finished third out of 11 teams Saturday night as the three-day Grove City College Invitational/Presidents' Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships concluded at College Pool.

Grove City earned 495 team points, trailing Washington and Jefferson (846) and Westminster (776).

Senior Christine Bare (Camp Hill, Pa./Cedar Cliff) helped lead Grove City's effort with a second-place finish in the 1650 with a time of 18 minutes, 20.01 seconds. Meanwhile, sophomore diver Emily Hays (Seaville, N.J./Ocean City) took second in 1-meter diving with 308.10 points. Thursday night, Hays won the 3-meter diving title.

Senior Jacquie Adlam (Ambler, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) took third in the 200 breaststroke (2:31.32) while senior Karen Rodgers (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills) placed fourth in the 200 butterfly with a mark of 2:17.63. Junior Ellen Magee (Cincinnati, Ohio/Homeschooled) placed fourth in the 100 free (54.50).

Junior Amanda Brozenic (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock) took fifth in the 200 breaststroke in 2:34.00. Bare, Magee, Rodgers and freshman Ellen Keefer (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) closed the meet with a third-place finish in the 400 free relay (3:40.16). 

Washington and Jefferson's Kaitlyn Orstein won the PAC's MVP award as well as the Invitational's High-Point Award.
