Grove City falls to CMU

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team opened the dual-meet portion of the 2005-06 schedule Saturday afternoon with a 126-100 loss to visiting Carnegie Mellon at the Grove City College Pool.

Grove City (0-1) opened the meet by winning the 400 medley relay. The quartet of freshman Alyse Brannon (Purcellville, Va./Homeschooled), senior Amanda Brozenic (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock), freshman Kiersten Bower (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) and senior Jaclyn Bellissimo (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover) won the 400 medley relay in 4 minutes, 10.90 seconds.

Bower also won the 200 butterfly in 2:16.16 while Bellissimo won the 100 free in a time of 56.70 seconds. Brannon captured the 200 backstroke in 2:20.99.

Also for Grove City, sophomore Ellen Keefer (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) took second in the 200 free (2:05.33) and freshman Whitney Baur (Ambler, Pa./North Penn) took second in the 200 IM (2:23.07).

Grove City will visit Frostburg State Friday night in a non-conference dual meet.
