Wolverines 4th after first night of Longnecker Invite
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team is in fourth place after the first night of the ninth annual James E. Longnecker Invitational at the Grove City College Pool. Friday night, the Wolverines earned 162 team points.
Defending champion Carnegie Mellon leads with 272 points while Washington and Jefferson is second at 194.5. Gannon is third with 167.
Grove City produced a pair of fourth-place relay teams. The Wolverines opened the meet by taking fourth in the 200 free relay as senior Ellen Magee (Cincinnati, Ohio/Homeschooled), sophomore Ellen Keefer (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville), senior Jaclyn Bellissimo (North Canton, Ohio/Hoover) and sophomore Christie Hebda (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) posted a time of 1 minute, 42.35 seconds to earn fourth.
Bellissimo, Magee, senior Amanda Brozenic (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock) and freshman Kiersten Bower (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) then placed fourth in the 400 medley relay in 4:13.13.
Brozenic also took sixth in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:20.39.
Saturday's first session will begin at 10 a.m. with the evening session set for 6 p.m.
