Grove City takes 3rd at PAC Championships

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team placed third at the 10-team Grove City Invitational/Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships Saturday night in the Grove City College Pool.

The Wolverines earned 588 team points during the three-day event. Westminster won the team title with 817 points while defending champion Washington and Jefferson placed second with 727 points.

Freshman Kiersten Bower (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) help lead Grove City's effort Saturday night by winning the 200 butterfly in 2 minutes, 15.67 seconds. Senior Amanda Brozenic (Slippery Rock, Pa./Slippery Rock) took third in the 200 breaststroke (2:33.72) while senior Ellen Magee (Cincinnati, Ohio/Homeschooled) finished fourth in the 100 free (54.87).

Magee, freshman Whitney Baur (Ambler, Pa./North Penn), sophomore Ellen Keefer (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) and sophomore Christie Hebda (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) closed the meet by placing third in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:42.16.

Several Grove City athletes will compete in Case Western Reserve's Veale Classic next Saturday, February 18 in Cleveland.
