Wolverines split double dual

CALIFORNIA, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team wrapped up the dual-meet portion of the regular season Saturday afternoon by splitting a double-dual meet against a pair of NCAA Division II foes. Grove City earned a 76-35 victory over Fairmont State but dropped a 66-43 verdict to host California University of Pennsylvania. Grove City closes the regular season with an 8-10 record.

Freshman Jane Wilson (Newberg, Ore./Veritas School) secured Grove City's lone victory on the afternoon, winning the 100 free in 55.66 seconds. Wilson also added a runner-up finish in the 50 (25.69) while junior Ellen Keefer (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) took second in the 200 free (2:04.49). Sophomore Kiersten Bower (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) finished second in the 200 butterfly (2:25.86).

Also for Grove City, sophomore Whitney Fairchild (Corry, Pa./Corry) took third in the 1000 in 11:52.80 while freshman Rachel Johnson (Phoenix, Ariz./Shadow Mountain) placed third in the 100 backstroke (1:07.36).

Grove City will host the season-ending Grove City Invitational and Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships Feb. 8-10.
