Grove City improves to 2-1

LATROBE, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team is 2-1 after earning a 107-74 victory at Saint Vincent Friday night in a dual meet between Presidents' Athletic Conference members.

Freshman Lauren Baur (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) earned a pair of individual victories for Grove City. Baur won the 100 backstroke in 1 minute, 8.29 seconds, then won the 50 free in 26.32 seconds. Sophomore Amanda Thompson (Erie, Pa./McDowell) won the 200 free in 2:06.86 while junior Kiersten Bower (Bloomsburg, Pa./Central Columbia) posted a victorious time of 2:25.27 in the 200 fly.

Freshman Sarah Page (Colorado Springs, Colo./Pine Creek) took first in the 100 breaststroke (1:15.75) while junior Rebecca Smiddy (Miami, Fla./Homeschooled) won the 1650 with a time of 19:37.35.

Baur, Page, Thompson and freshman Sarah Bargery (Springfield, Va./Homeschooled) opened the meet by winning the 400 medley relay in 4:19.93.

Grove City will host Case Western, Kenyon and Washington & Jefferson in a quad meet Saturday at 1 p.m.
