W&J trims Grove City
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team is 5-5 overall and 2-1 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference after dropping a 165-128 decision to visiting Washington & Jefferson Saturday afternoon at the Grove City College Pool.
Sophomore Amanda Thompson (Erie, Pa./McDowell) and freshman Sarah Page (Colorado Springs, Colo./Pine Creek) both earned a pair of individual wins for the Wolverines. Thompson swept the backstroke while Page won both the 100 and 200 free. Thompson won the 100 back in 1 minute, 3.56 seconds, then won the 200 back in 2:17.63.
Page, meanwhile, won the 100 free in 55.43 and also posted a winning time of 2:00.96 in the 200 free.
Junior Rebecca Smiddy (Miami, Fla./Homeschooled) won the 1000 in 11:24.86 while freshman Sarah Bargery (Springfield, Va./Homeschooled) won the 100 breaststroke in 1:11.03.
Grove City closed the meet by winning the 400 free relay as senior Ellen Keefer (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville), Page, freshman Lauren Baur (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) and freshman Katie Brunk (Wyncote, Pa./Cheltenham) recorded a victorious time of 3:45.63.
Grove City will visit Westminster Tuesday night in Presidents' Athletic Conference action.
