Westminster clips Grove City in PAC clash
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team concluded the Presidents' Athletic Conference portion of the 2007-08 schedule Tuesday night with a 146-116 setback at Westminster. Grove City is now 5-6 overall and 2-2 in the conference.
Freshmen Sarah Bargery (Springfield, Va./Homeschooled) and Sarah Page (Colorado Springs, Colo./Pine Creek) both earned a pair of victories for Grove City. Bargery won the 100 breaststroke in 1 minute, 11.21 seconds, then touched first in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:32.42.
Page, meanwhile, won both the 50 (25.50) and 100 (55.01) free races. Junior Rebecca Smiddy (Miami, Fla./Homeschooled) picked up a win in the 1000 with a time of 11:22.31.
Grove City also swept both relays Tuesday. Bargery, sophomore Amanda Thompson (Erie, Pa./McDowell), freshman Lauren Baur (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) and senior Ellen Keefer (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville) won the 200 medley relay in 1:55.82.
Keefer, Baur, Page and freshman Katie Brunk (Wyncote, Pa./Cheltenham) closed the meet by winning the 400 free relay in 3:47.97.
Grove City will visit Denison Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. in non-conference action.
