Grove City downs Saint Vincent

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team improved to 3-1 overall Friday night with a 153-75 win over visiting Saint Vincent in a dual meet between Presidents' Athletic Conference members. It is Grove City's third straight victory.

Freshman Amy Fleming (Annandale, Va./Annandale) recorded three individual victories to help lead the Wolverines. Fleming won the 1000 in 11 minutes, 35.81 seconds, then won the 100 breaststroke in 1:14.55. She concluded her evening by winning the 200 breaststroke in 2:40.28.

Seven other Grove City performers earned wins Friday night. Sophomore Sarah Page (Colorado Springs, Colo./Pine Creek) won the 200 free in 2:00.00 while senior Whitney Fairchild (Corry, Pa./Corry) won the 100 backstroke in 1:06.45. Senior Rebecca Smiddy (Miami, Fla./Homeschooled) touched first in the 200 butterfly (2:30.21) while freshman Jenna Richert (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) won the 50 in 25.73 seconds.

Freshman Kara Sisley (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) won the 100 free (57.38) while classmate Chelsea Johnson (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) captured the 200 backstroke in 2:18.98. Freshman Bethany Johnson (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Calvary Christian) won 1-meter diving with 202.60 points.

Sisley, Page, Fairchild and Smiddy opened the meet by winning the 200 medley relay in 2:02.23.

Grove City will compete in the Case Western Reserve Quad Meet Saturday at 1 p.m. in Cleveland.
