Wolverines now 5-2
CLEVELAND -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team went 2-1 at the Case Western Reserve Quad Meet Saturday afternoon. Grove City secured a 183-116 win over Case Western. The Wolverines also topped Kenyon, 148-141. Grove City (5-2) did drop a 162-137 decision to Washington & Jefferson.
Sophomore Sarah Page (Colorado Springs, Colo./Pine Creek) picked up two individual victories for Grove City Saturday. She won the 50 free in 24.85 seconds, then earned a win in the 100 free (54.70).
Freshman Jenna Richert (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) won the 1000 in 11:01.90.
Page, freshman Chelsea Johnson (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington), sophomore Sarah Bargery (Springfield, Va./Homeschooled) and freshman Emily Kramer (Ankeny, Iowa/Homeschooled) took second in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:54.49. Richert, freshman Kate Wilt (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte), junior Amanda Thompson (Erie, Pa./McDowell) and freshman Kara Sisley (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) placed second in the 200 free relay (1:42.99).
Also for Grove City, Wilt finished second in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:10.59 while senior Rebecca Smiddy (Miami, Fla./Homeschooled) earned runner-up in the 1000 (11:17.34).
Freshman diver Bethany Johnson (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Calvary Christian) earned second on both boards. She posted 216.90 points on the 1-meter board, then tallied 203.20 points in 3-meter diving.
Grove City will host Allegheny Tuesday night at 5 p.m.
