Grove City posts 4 wins in first night of Longnecker Invite
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team trails Washington & Jefferson by a half-point after the first night of the 12th annual James E. Longnecker Invitational at the Grove City College Pool. W&J accumulated 371 points while Grove City has 370.5.
Grove City swept both relay events Friday night. Freshman Kate Wilt (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte), freshman Emily Kramer (Ankeny, Iowa/Homeschooled), freshman Jenna Richert (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) and sophomore Sarah Page (Colorado Springs, Colo./Pine Creek) opened the meet by winning the 200 free relay in 1 minute, 39.40 seconds.
Wilt, Page, Kramer and junior Amanda Thompson (Erie, Pa./McDowell) capped the session by winning the 400 medley relay in 4:06.89.
Richert won the 500 free in 5:14.51 while Page won the 50 free (24.44). Wilt earned runner-up in the 500 (5:15.99) while sophomore Sarah Bargery (Springfield, Va./Homeschooled) touched third in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:19.05.
Freshman Bethany Johnson (Huntington Valley, Pa./Calvary Christian) took second in 1-meter diving with 206.20 points.
Saturday's action begins at 10 a.m.
