Grove City sweeps double dual at Pitt-Bradford
BRADFORD, Pa. – The Grove City College women’s swimming and diving team improved to 11-3 overall Friday night by sweeping a double-dual with Penn State Behrend and host Pitt-Bradford. The Wolverines picked up a 56-33 win over Behrend and a 59-31 decision over Pitt-Bradford.
Freshman Kate Wilt (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte) recorded a pair of individual victories to help lead Grove City. She won the 50 free in 26.41 seconds, then won the 100 free in 56.92 seconds.
Freshman Amy Fleming (Annandale, Va./Annandale) won the 1000 in a pool-record time of 11:28.04 while freshman Emily Kramer (Ankeny, Iowa/Homeschooled) won the 200 free in 2:05.46.
Two other rookies also earned wins Friday night for Grove City. Freshman Larissa Cassano (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) won the 400 individual medley in 5:07.11 while classmate Kara Sisley (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) took the 100 backstroke in 1:04.63.
Kramer, Cassano, Sisley and sophomore Katie Brunk (Wyncote, Pa./Cheltenham) opened the meet by winning the 200 medley relay in 2:01.01.Grove City’s 11 wins match a single-season program record, most recently set by the 1996-97 team.
