Grove City opens 2009-10 season at Clarion
CLARION, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team opened the 2009-10 season Friday night and Saturday by finishing second at the Clarion University Fall Classic. Clarion won the team title with 948 points while Grove City finished second with 788.
Freshman Kaitlin Riesmeyer (Pittsburgh, Pa./Peters Township) earned two wins for Grove City at the two-day event. She won the 500 free in 5 minutes, 23.42 seconds, then won the 1650 in 18:46.52.
Freshman Jenny Ryan (State College, Pa./State College) took first in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:47.22.
Ryan added a second-place finish in the 500 (5:25.29) while Riesmeyer earned second in the 100 butterfly (1:00.32). Sophomore Kate Wilt (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte) earned a pair of runner-up finishes. Wilt placed second in the 200 free (2:01.41) and second in the 1650 (19:02.67).
Grove City will open the dual-meet portion of the schedule next Saturday at Allegheny.
