Grove City tops Saint Vincent

LATROBE, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team improved to 3-0 Friday night with a 143-107 victory over Presidents' Athletic Conference foe Saint Vincent in dual-meet action.

Four Grove City swimmers earned two wins each against the Bearcats. Sophomore Jenna Richert (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) won the 1650 in 18 minutes, 49.73 seconds, then captured first in the 200 free with a time of 2:01.23.

Freshman Jenny Ryan (State College, Pa./State College) swept the sprints as she won both the 50 (25.27) and 100 (55.28) freestyle races. Meanwhile, freshman Olivia Forish (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) swept the backstroke. Forish won the 100 backstroke in 1:05.00, then took first in the 200 backstroke (2:23.85).

Freshman Angela Palumbo (Washington, Pa./Trinity) won the 200 breaststroke in 2:38.58 and also touched first in the 200 individual medley (2:20.35).

Sophomore Larissa Cassano (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) won the 500 in 5:51.37 while sophomore Caroline Simmons (Edinboro, Pa./Saucon Valley) touched first in the 100 butterfly (1:06.77).

Ryan, Palumbo, Cassano and sophomore Tiffani Douglas (Sayre, Pa./Homeschooled) opened the meet by winning the 400 medley relay in 4:20.25.

Grove City will compete in the Kenyon Quad Saturday at 12 p.m.
