Wolverines sweep double dual
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team improved to 11-1 overall Friday night by sweeping visiting Pitt-Bradford and Penn State Behrend in a double dual meet at the James Longnecker Competition Pool. Grove City earned an 86-30 win over Pitt-Bradford and a 74-59 decision over Behrend.
Sophomore Kate Wilt (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte) picked up two individual wins for Grove City. She won the 50 free in 26.26 seconds, then won the 500 in 5 minutes, 25.10 seconds.
Freshman Jenny Ryan (State College, Pa./State College) won the 100 breaststroke in 1:11.17 while freshman Kelly Schultz (Pittsburgh, Pa./Homeschooled) won the 1000 in 12:06.09. Freshman Kaitlin Yeatts (Charlotte, N.C./Homeschooled) captured the 200 free in 2:05.61 and classmate Olivia Forish (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) won the 200 backstroke (2:18.31).
Sophomore Amy Fleming (Annandale, Va./Annandale) won the 200 breaststroke in 2:39.48 and freshman Angela Palumbo (Washington, Pa./Trinity) touched first in the 200 individual medley (2:20.19).
Ryan, Palumbo, Yeatts and sophomore Chelsea Johnson (Worthington, Ohio/Thomas Worthington) opened the meet by winning the 200 medley relay in 1:58.19.
Grove City will host Wooster Saturday at 1 p.m.
