Grove City places 7th in relay on record-breaking day

MINNEAPOLIS -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team produced several outstanding efforts Thursday night in the second day of action at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships at the University of Minnesota.

Grove City's 200 free relay squad earned All-America honors by placing seventh overall. The team of freshman Jenny Ryan (State College, Pa./State College), junior Lauren Baur (North Wales, Pa./North Penn), junior Sarah Page (Colorado Springs, Colo./Pine Creek) and freshman Angela Palumbo (Washington, Pa./Trinity) posted a Grove City-record time of 1 minute, 35.35 seconds.

Ryan's leadoff time of 24.03 seconds is also the fastest 50-yard free time in program history.  Ryan, Page and Palumbo are all two-time NCAA All-Americans. Baur's All-America citation is the first of her career.

In the preliminaries, Ryan, Palumbo, Page and freshman Kaitlin Riesmeyer (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) set a new Grove City record in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:57.59. That time placed the Wolverines 18th in the field.
