Grove City downs Allegheny
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team earned a 160-136 victory over visiting Allegheny Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at James Longnecker Competition Pool.
Grove City swimmers won eight events total as four individuals posted victories. Sophomore Kait Riesmeyer (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) recorded three wins for Grove City (1-0) and junior Kate Wilt (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte) added a pair of wins.
Riesmeyer won the 200 freestyle in 1 minute, 58.69 seconds and also took first in the 200 butterfly (2:12.11). She then prevailed in the 500 (5:20.50).
Wilt swept the breaststroke events for the Wolverines, winning the 100-yard race in 1:10.84 and then recording a winning time of 2:30.77 in the 200 breaststroke.
Senior Lauren Baur (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) took first in the 100 butterfly (1:01.97) and sophomore Angela Palumbo (Washington, Pa./Trinity) prevailed in the 200 individual medley (2:14.96).
Riesmeyer, Wilt, sophomore Jenny Ryan (State College, Pa./State College) and junior Jenna Richert (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) opened Saturday's meet by winning the 400 medley relay in 4:05.99.
Grove City opens Presidents' Athletic Conference action next Saturday afternoon against visiting Saint Vincent. The meet begins at 1 p.m.
