Wolverines open conference action with win
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team earned a 156-111 win over visiting Saint Vincent Saturday afternoon in Presidents' Athletic Conference action at James E. Longnecker Competition Pool.
Grove City athletes posted the top time in each event during the dual meet and three performers recorded multiple victories.
Sophomore Jenny Ryan (State College, Pa./State College) earned three wins for Grove City (2-0, 1-0 PAC). Ryan won the 1650 in 18 minutes, 6.35 seconds. She also won the 50 free (25.34) and the 200 breaststroke (2:35.62).
Sophomore Kait Riesmeyer (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) won the 100 backstroke (1:03.85). She also touched first in the 500 free (5:21.37) and the 200 individual medley (2:15.81).
Junior Jenna Richert (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) won the 100 free (55.32) and also posted a fast time of 1:04.15 in the 100 butterfly.
Senior Sarah Page (Colorado Springs, Colo./Pine Creek) won the 200 free in 2:02.72 while sophomore Angela Palumbo (Washington, Pa./Trinity) finished first in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.50). Junior Larissa Cassano (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) won the 200 butterfly (2:26.21) and sophomore Mary McLachlan (Grove City, Pa./Grove City) prevailed in the 200 backstroke (2:27.86).
Palumbo, sophomore Natalie Keibler (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park), senior Lauren Baur (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) and junior Kate Wilt (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte) opened the meet by winning the 200 medley relay in 1:57.18.
Senior Stephanie McNeill (Louisville, Ky./Brazoswood, Texas) won both diving events. She won the 1-meter competition with 172.10 points and then posted a top score of 181.75 on the 3-meter board.
Grove City will visit Carnegie Mellon next Saturday in non-conference action.
