CMU clips Grove City
PITTSBURGH -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team fell to 2-1 overall on the 2010-11 season with a 178-118 setback at Carnegie Mellon Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.
Sophomores Angela Palumbo (Washington, Pa./Trinity) and Kaitlin Riesmeyer (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) each earned two individual victories for Grove City. Palumbo won the 50 free in 24.19 seconds and then posted a winning time of 52.73 in the 100 free.
Riesmeyer, meanwhile, swept the butterfly events. She took first in the 100 fly with a time of 57.94 and then won the 200 fly with a time of 2:08.26. Both finishes earned Riesmeyer NCAA B Cuts for the NCAA Championships.
Palumbo, sophomore Olivia Forish (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield), senior Lauren Baur (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) and senior Sarah Page (Colorado Springs, Colo./Pine Creek) capped the meet by winning the 200 free relay in 1:39.68.
Grove City will host Kenyon and Case Western next Saturday at 1 p.m. in a tri-meet at James E. Longnecker Competition Pool.
