W&J edges Grove City

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving squad dropped a 159-141 decision to host Washington & Jefferson Saturday afternoon in a Presidents' Athletic Conference dual meet at the Henry Memorial Center.

Grove City swimmers captured eight total wins Saturday. Sophomore Kait Riesmeyer (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) helped pace Grove City by capturing three individual victories. Riesmeyer won the 200 free in 1 minute, 58.43 seconds. She then swept both butterfly races, winning the 100 in a pool record of 58.54 seconds and taking first in the 200 fly with a time of 2:09.44

Sophomore Angela Palumbo (Washington, Pa./Trinity) won both the 50 (24.35) and 100 (53.96) free races for Grove City while classmate Jenny Ryan (State College, Pa./State College) won the 1000 in 11:01.66. Junior Kate Wilt (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte) won the 200 breaststroke in 2:29.23.

Grove City (6-2, 2-1 PAC) closed the meet by winning the 400 free relay with their second pool record of the day. Sophomore Natalie Keibler (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park), senior Lauren Baur (North Wales, Pa./North Penn), junior Jenna Richert (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) and Palumbo posted a victorious time of 3:41.18.

Grove City will host Denison next Saturday at 1 p.m.
