Wolverines compete at Pitt
PITTSBURGH -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team competed in the University of Pittsburgh Quad Saturday at Trees Pool. Host Pitt earned a 231.5-51.5 win over the Wolverines. Grove City also dropped decisions to NCAA Division II foes Clarion (175-104) and California (135-111). Carnegie Mellon also claimed a 182-91 decision over Grove City.
Sophomore Kaitlin Riesmeyer (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) helped lead the Wolverines by taking second in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2 minutes, 11.59 seconds. Riesmeyer also claimed fifth in the 100 fly with a time of 59.30 seconds.
Sophomore Angela Palumbo (Washington, Pa./Trinity) earned a pair of top-five finishes for the Wolverines. She took third in the 100 free (54.11) and fifth in the 50 free (24.72). Classmate Jenny Ryan (State College, Pa./State College) captured fifth in the 500 (5:21.03) and fifth in the 200 individual medley (2:17.15).
Grove City (9-7 overall) will host the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships as part of the James E. Longnecker Invitational February 17-19.
