Grove City produces All-America effort in 200 medley relay

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Grove City College highlighted the opening night of the 2011 NCAA Division III Women's Swimming and Diving Championships Wednesday night by producing an All-America effort in the 200 medley relay at the University of Tennessee's Allan Jones Aquatic Center.

The quartet of sophomore backstroker Jenny Ryan (State College, Pa./State College), sophomore breaststroker Angela Palumbo (Washington, Pa./Trinity), sophomore butterflier Kaitlin Riesmeyer (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) and senior sprinter Sarah Page (Colorado Springs, Colo./Pine Creek) took 14th in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1 minute, 46.69 seconds.

In the preliminaries, the foursome set a new Grove City record in that event with a time of 1:46.12. The Wolverines entered the event seeded 22nd. Emory won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:41.58.

Palumbo is now a six-time NCAA All-American, while Ryan has five All-America citations to her credit. Page and Riesmeyer each earned their fourth career All-America honor.

Ryan and Riesmeyer also competed in the preliminaries of the 200 individual medley Wednesday. Ryan finished 30th with a time of 2:09.00 and Riesmeyer took 38th in 2:11.05. Palumbo placed 27th in the preliminaries of the 50 free with a time of 24.06 seconds.

Grove City is currently 27th in the team standings with six points. Thursday's preliminaries begin at 10 a.m.
