Grove City takes 5th at Kenyon

GAMBIER, Ohio -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team earned fifth place overall at the Kenyon College Total Performance Invitational Saturday night. The Wolverines recorded 369 points over the three-day event. Penn won the team title with 1,187 points while Kenyon finished second with 1,071.5 points. Bowling Green (878.5) took third and Davidson (434) finished fourth.

Grove City closed the meet by taking second in the 400 free relay as junior Jenny Ryan (State College, Pa./State College), junior Kait Riesmeyer (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township), senior Jenna Richert (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) and junior Angela Palumbo (Washington, Pa./Trinity) recorded a time of 3 minutes, 28.36 seconds.

Palumbo also took second in the 100 free with a time of 51.75 seconds. Riesmeyer grabbed fifth in the 100 butterfly (56.88) and Richert took sixth in the 100 free in 52.62 seconds.

Palumbo, Riesmeyer, freshman Lauren Cassano (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) and sophomore Kaley Hess (Reamstown, Pa./Cocalico) opened Saturday night's session by finishing sixth in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:47.58.

Grove City will visit Chatham next Saturday for a double dual meet with the Terriers of Hiram and Presidents' Athletic Conference foe Chatham at 1 p.m.
