Grove City 4th at Winter Invite
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team placed fourth out of seven teams at the College's Winter Invitational, held Friday and Saturday in the James E. Longnecker Pool.
Grove City concluded the two-day event with 484 points. Washington & Jefferson won the team title with 1,227 points. Misericordia (976) and East Stroudsburg (707) rounded out the top three.
Freshman Liv Beckner (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) helped lead Grove City by taking fourth in the 1650 with a time of 19 minutes, 30.61 seconds. Senior Amy Fleming (Annandale, Va./Annandale) earned fifth in the 400 individual medley (5:13.47) and also took sixth in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:41.56.
Freshman Emily Swanson (Wattsburg, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) took sixth in the 200 back (2:21.24) as well as the 100 backstroke (1:06.25). Freshman Faith Gregorchik (Hendersonville, N.C./Hendersonville) placed sixth in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.46) and classmate Krystal Gwynn (Irwin, Pa./Hempfield) took sixth in the 1650 in 20:00.14.
Beckner, Fleming, sophomore Sarah Nosal (Austin, Texas/Westwood) and senior Caroline Simmons (Edinboro, Pa./Saucon Valley) earned fifth in the 800 free relay (8:37.52). Swanson, Beckner, Simmons and sophomore Jennifer Lucht (Glastonbury, Conn./Centennial, Md.) finished sixth in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:54.68.
In 1-meter diving, senior Rachel Weeber (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCaskey) finished fifth with 183.70 points and junior Moriah Ujano (Scottsdale, Ariz./Desert Mountain) took sixth with 158.20 points.
Grove City will visit Chatham next Saturday for a double dual meet with the Hiram College Terriers and Presidents' Athletic Conference foe Chatham Cougars at 1 p.m.
