Wolverines top Chatham, Hiram

PITTSBURGH -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team improved to 6-2 overall Saturday by earning two wins at Chatham University. Grove City earned a 161-113 Presidents' Athletic Conference victory over Chatham and a 166-121 non-league win over Hiram.

Six Grove City athletes earned individual victories Saturday. Freshman Lauren Cassano (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) won the 200 free in 1 minute, 59.19 seconds while junior Olivia Forish (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) won the 50 backstroke in 30.28 seconds. Sophomore Kaley Hess (Reamstown, Pa./Cocalico) took first in the 50 breaststroke (33.29).

Also for Grove City, junior Emily Franz (Fort Myers, Fla./Homeschooled) won the 50 free (25.51) and senior Jenna Richert (Sewickley, Pa./Quaker Valley) prevailed in the 500 (5:28.70). Senior Rachel Weeber (Lancaster, Pa./J.P. McCaskey) won 3-meter diving with 194.40 points.

Freshman Tori Baker (Fairfax, Va./Robinson) touched first in the 200 individual medley with an exhibition time of 2:19.89.

Forish, Hess, Franz and senior Caroline Simmons (Edinboro, Pa./Saucon Valley) opened the meet by winning the 200 medley relay in 1:56.96. Franz, Forish, Richert and junior Natalie Keibler (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) closed the meet by taking first in the 200 free relay (1:44.37).

Grove City (2-0 PAC) will host Washington & Jefferson January 14, 2012 at 1 p.m. in conference action.
