Denison downs Grove City
GRANVILLE, Ohio -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team fell to 7-3 overall Saturday afternoon with a 178-107 setback at national powerhouse Denison University in non-conference action at Gregory Pool.
Three Grove City swimmers posted runner-up finishes. Junior Kait Riesmeyer (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) placed second in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2 minutes, 11.84 seconds. Junior Angela Palumbo (Washington, Pa./Trinity) placed second in the 100 free (53.98) and senior Kate Wilt (Bellefonte, Pa./Bellefonte) finished second in the 200 breaststroke (2:31.39).
Denison placed second overall at the 2011 NCAA Division III Championships, marking the Big Red's sixth overall runner-up national finish.
Grove City returns to action next Saturday against visiting Wooster at 1 p.m.
