Grove City competes at Pitt

PITTSBURGH -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team competed in the University of Pittsburgh Quad Saturday afternoon at Trees Pool. The Wolverines downed Division II Clarion 148-132 to record their 10th win of the season. Carnegie Mellon (170-100), California, Pa., (142-119) and Pitt (235-58) all earned wins over Grove City.

Junior Kait Riesmeyer (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) helped lead the Grove City effort Saturday by taking second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 59.42 seconds. She also earned third in the 200 fly (2:12.42).

Junior Angela Palumbo (Washington, Pa./Trinity) earned third in the 100 free (53.79) and fourth place in the 50 free (24.57). Freshman Lauren Cassano (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) took fifth in both backstroke events. She posted a 1:02.69 clocking in the 100 back and a time of 2:15.95 in the 200 backstroke.

Freshman Keegan Reed (Greencastle, Pa./James Buchanan) earned fifth in the 1000 free with a time of 11:14.13.

Grove City will host the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championships as part of the James E. Longnecker Invitational February 16-18.
