Grove City 5th at Kenyon

GAMBIER, Ohio -- The Grove City College women's swimming and diving team is in fifth place at the Kenyon College Total Performance Invitational after the second night of action in the three-day event. The Wolverines have earned 217 team points in the six-team meet. Penn leads the meet, followed by Kenyon, Davidson and Carnegie Mellon. Findlay is sixth.

Senior Angela Palumbo (Washington, Pa./Trinity) helped lead Grove City by provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Division III Championships in two events. Palumbo took third in the 200 free with a time of 1 minute, 52.80 seconds and then placed fourth in the 50 free (23.94).

Senior Jenny Ryan (State College, Pa./State College) provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 400 individual medley with a sixth-place time of 4:35.95.

Palumbo, Ryan, senior Kait Riesmeyer (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) and sophomore Tori Baker (Fairfax, Va./Robinson) combined for a third-place finish in the 800 free relay with a time of 7:32.41. Palumbo, Riesmeyer, sophomore Lauren Cassano (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) and junior Kaley Hess (Reamstown, Pa./Cocalico) took sixth in the 400 medley relay in 3:56.22.

Action resumes Saturday at 10 a.m.
